  • GSA Update on Federal Funding

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) continues to monitor actions of the new administration impacting the field of aging. This includes executive orders and the January 27 Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memo for a “Temporary Pause on Agency Grants, Loans and other Financial Assistance Programs.” As of 12 p.m. ET today, the memo has been rescinded following concerns raised by advocates and organizations that would be impacted.

We realize this action could have undermined the research, innovation, and productivity at the heart of the U.S. economy. Pausing congressionally approved funding for programs would have a ripple effect on the well-being of all people, including our members engaged in advancing gerontological science.

Our GSA team in Washington, DC, will continue to update our membership using the GSA Connect platform.

Stay informed! Register now for the GSA webinar, “New Congress and Administration: Implications for Aging and Health Care Policy,” on Monday, February 3, at 3 p.m. ET to gain insights into the aging and healthcare policy priorities of the new administration and Congress and the implications of these new actions. The panel of speakers will discuss the impacts of proposed legislation, the president’s executive orders, and potential budget implications that could affect aging policy.

Refer to GSA Connect for the latest updates. Additional resources may be found in GSA’s member-only newsletter, Federal Policy Pulse, shared via email every Monday afternoon, along with our website, Gerontology News and GSA Announcements.
